Chemical Peels

Healthy, Radiant Skin Begins beneath the surface

If dullness, uneven tone, fine lines, acne, or sun damage are keeping you from feeling confident in your skin, another product may not be the answer. Sometimes, your skin needs a carefully guided reset.

At Foundation Health & Wellness, we offer personalized chemical peels in Albuquerque to gently resurface the skin and encourage a smoother, brighter, more even-looking complexion. Jalayne Faulhaber, CNP, and her team take the time to understand your skin, your concerns, and your goals before recommending a treatment—because the right peel is not one-size-fits-all.

PERSONALIZED SKIN CARE

Reveal fresher, more radiant skin

Your skin is constantly renewing itself, but dead or damaged surface cells can make your complexion look dull, uneven, or tired. A chemical peel uses a carefully selected exfoliating solution to lift away those outer layers and support the skin’s natural renewal process.

Depending on the type and depth of peel selected for you, chemical peels may help improve the appearance of:

  • Fine lines and early signs of aging

  • Sun damage and visible discoloration

  • Dark spots and uneven skin tone

  • Acne and some post-acne marks

  • Rough or uneven texture

  • Dull, congested, or tired-looking skin

  • Dryness and lack of radiance

The result is not a different face. It is your own skin, clarified—smoother, refreshed, and better able to reflect its natural vitality.

What Is A Chemical Peel?

A chemical peel is a professional skin-resurfacing treatment. A specialized solution is applied to the skin to exfoliate targeted outer layers. As those cells shed, newer skin is revealed beneath the surface.

Chemical peels can vary in strength and formulation. Lighter peels generally offer subtle refreshment with less recovery time, while stronger peels may address more visible texture or discoloration and require a longer healing period. Some people benefit from one treatment; others see their best results through a thoughtfully planned series.

At Foundation Health & Wellness, your care begins with a conversation. Jalayne Faulhaber and her team will evaluate your skin, discuss your medical and skincare history, and help determine whether a chemical peel is appropriate for you. You will also receive clear guidance about preparation, aftercare, expected peeling, and sun protection.

Chemical Peel: What to Expect

Personalized Care Before, During & After

Before
Your Chemical Peel

We'll ask about any medications and skincare products you use, recent cosmetic treatments, a history of cold sores, and any tendency toward scarring or changes in pigmentation. You may be asked to pause retinoids, exfoliants, waxing, or certain products before treatment. Follow the personalized instructions you receive rather than changing a prescribed medication on your own.

During
Your Appointment

Your provider will thoroughly cleanse your skin before the peel solution is applied. Expect our team to carefully monitor your skin throughout the treatment and complete the peel according to the selected protocol.

After
Your Chemical Peel

The Foundation team will provide you with specific aftercare instructions based on your treatment. In general, it is important to cleanse & moisturize. Avoid picking, rubbing or pulling at peeling skin; let it heal naturally. You'll want to pause using any exfoliating products until you're cleared to use them again. And, as always apply broad-spectrum sunscreen every day

Your skin tone, sensitivity, current products, health history, and desired outcome all shape the treatment plan, and Foundation partners with the gold standard, PCA Skin products.

FAQs About Chemical Peels

What does a chemical peel feel like?

You may notice warmth, tingling, or mild stinging while the solution is on your skin. The experience and recovery depend on the specific peel used. Your skin may feel tight or sensitive afterward, and redness, dryness, flaking, or visible peeling can occur as the renewal process unfolds.

How much downtime is there after a chemical peel?

Downtime depends on the depth and type of peel. A light peel may cause redness, dryness, or flaking for several days, while a stronger peel can involve more noticeable peeling and a longer recovery period. We will explain what to expect before your treatment so you can plan with confidence.

When will I see results from a chemical peel?

You may notice brighter, smoother-looking skin after the initial peeling and healing have passed. Results from lighter peels are often subtle and may build over a series of treatments. Your skin will continue to age and respond to sun exposure, so thoughtful skincare and daily sun protection help preserve your results.

How many chemical peels will I need?

That depends on your skin, the concern being treated, and the depth of the peel. Some patients choose a single treatment before a special occasion, while others benefit from a series spaced over time. We will recommend a plan based on your goals rather than a predetermined package.

Can a chemical peel help with acne or acne scars?

Certain chemical peels can help improve active acne, clogged pores, post-acne discoloration, and the appearance of some superficial acne scars. Chemical peels cannot erase deep scars, however. An evaluation allows us to set realistic expectations and determine whether a peel is the right approach for your skin.

Can a chemical peel help with dark spots and sun damage?

Chemical peels may improve the appearance of some dark spots, uneven pigmentation, and visible sun damage by removing damaged surface cells. Because the risk of unwanted pigment changes can vary with skin tone and peel depth, personalized selection and diligent sun protection are especially important.

Are chemical peels safe for every skin tone?

People with many different skin tones may be candidates for chemical peels, but the type and strength of the peel must be chosen carefully. Your consultation helps our team consider your skin tone, history, and risk of pigmentation changes before recommending treatment.

Who should not get a chemical peel?

A chemical peel may need to be postponed or avoided if you are pregnant, have an active skin infection or open wound, experience frequent cold-sore outbreaks, have recently used certain acne medications, or have a history that increases the risk of poor healing or scarring. Candidacy depends on the individual, which is why an honest consultation matters.

Do chemical peels tighten loose skin or remove deep wrinkles?

Chemical peels can improve surface texture, fine lines, and overall radiance, but they do not tighten sagging skin or remove deep wrinkles and scars. We believe confidence grows from clear information, so our team will help you understand what a peel can—and cannot—reasonably achieve.
